Cherished Memories

Growing up my mom had made keepsake boxes for us, us being all 3 of her spawn. They were not the tiny keepsake boxes you are probably picturing in your mind, but instead they were actually large boxes. So i guess i should more accurately call it my baby box. In this she kept many various things of mine from childhood. My baby bear Marlow is in there, outfits from special occasions and many other miscellaneous, but meaningful things. I have always adored looking at it, and to this day i still have it. I knew when i had my own child someday i would do the same. However, instead of a box i use a large tote. Surprisingly i've almost filled this large tote. In it i have included her coming home outfit, first Christmas, stampede, Canada day, Easter and Halloween Outfits. There are also outfits that her great grandmother has hand knitted for her and sent down from Argentina. I have also kept her flower girl dress from her aunties wedding, and of course her birthday outfits. I have a love for anything vintage, and even took outfits from when i was a baby and put them on her, and have since packed them up in her baby tote to pass along down our family line. She's been very blessed with gifts from all her family including jewelery and also has a few of collectors coin sets. The collection of items in this tote that i've kept for her are things that represent a part of her life, sweet little memories to remind her of her first years. The years we all so easily forget. She will get to see her hospital bracelets, first little curls, how big her feet were. She'll get to read the letters from her family, telling her of how much we all love her and of all the silly things she's done and the joys she has brought to our lives. I'm exited to look back on all these memories when she's a little older, just like me and my mom did when i was young. These pictures are just a few of the many little keepsakes she has in this gigantic tote.

Above is her first Birthday outfit. I ordered her tutu dress online from an etsy shop. I had a color theme and an idea of what i wanted. I had found someone to make my vision for her dress and this lady did an amazing job on it. I had the bows custom made and then added my own touches to them after i received them, the rest of her accessories i bought in city. She looked like a princess in this outfit. :)

Below is her second birthday outfit, the theme was a luau. I got an adult grass skirt and cut it down to size and sewed the waist smaller, the little shell cups in her size were a lucky find !

This is some of her sentimental jewelery that is kept in her baby tote. Closest to the top is a case that has her first curl in it, it also has a space for her first tooth. Below that (from left to right)is a necklace from her dad, it says 'daddy's little girl'. The next is a cross from her great grandmother (my dads mother). It's a mini gold, baby rosary that she sent down from Argentina. Next from that is a gift from her Noni (my mom). It's a gold necklace bought in Italy by Serenity's great grandmother (my grandma). Since Serenity is the first grandchild of the family my mom has passed it along to her. I've bought Serenity a little gold bracelet with her name engraved on it, you prob see it in a lot of my pictures. She never takes it off. When she outgrows it, it will go in her baby box, just like the one i had when i was a baby.

This is all her coin sets, 2 of them being her birth year coin sets, another 2 being 2010 Olympic coin sets. The ones in the case are coins from Portugal that my mom gave her, as well as the random ones in the front. My mom loves to give her stuff, especially things that she has received from her parents. I hope these are things that Serenity will one day pass along to her children.
